After matching on Hinge over a shared love of reality television, Emily and Jared met for a first date at a bar in Flatiron on a rainy summer night in 2019.

Since that night, the two became unexpected roommates (family included) during the pandemic, bonded over their enjoyment of activities (trivia nights, workout classes, board games and more), took memorable trips everywhere from Mexico to Mykonos (with a suitcase lost along the way) and finally became roommates by choice in 2023 on the Upper East Side.

While the bar that hosted their first date has since closed, the memory of their initial connection lives on through an art piece hung up on their wall.

Emily and Jared got engaged on December 15, 2023 at what Emily thought was a birthday dinner for Jared's mom.

When an assorted platter came that included fortune cookies, she opened one that read, "You will soon be asked a question you have been wanting to answer." Jared then asked that special question and the rest is history.
